About

The ALIGNING approach is to act as an agent of change in the Southeast Asian academic context to offer innovative curricula and answer to country and market needs in agriculture and climate change. ALIGNING, aims to bring change in two thematic areas: designing innovative curricula and promoting reform of governance and management systems. As shown in the below scheme, this change will come in parallel by following concrete steps towards its implementation.

The duration of the project is 36 months. The work plan has been designed for the effective achievement of the project objectives. It covers all the necessary phases for this purpose: project management covering the whole project period (WP1), preparation of research findings and institutional strategy (WP2), capacity building workshops, study visits. and establishment of the Innovative Clusters (WP3), design and development of academic course for a blended-learning setting as well an online professional program (WP4), integration and delivery of the academic courses and professional program (WP5), quality assurance and impact assessment throughout the project duration (WP1), dissemination and sustainability as project & cluster horizontal activities (WP6). More specifically, ALIGNING is organised in the following 6 WPs (consisting of 17 tasks and 29 deliverables, for more detail see section 4.2):

  • WP1 Management & Quality Assurance (horizontal activities)
  • WP2 Fostering institutional engagement and change
  • WP3 Capacity building & Innovative Clusters establishment
  • WP4 Enhancing the quality of the Curricula
  • WP5 Integration and delivery of the courses
  • WP6 Dissemination and sustainability (horizontal activities)

A methodological challenge is having different content development teams work in parallel to produce one unified product (WP4). The face-to-face capacity building and training workshops (WP3) will contribute to building a sense of trust and collaboration and understanding the different starting points, perspectives, and opinions. In addition, the Partners will focus on early identifying and avoiding content overlaps (“fail fast” through incremental development) in terms of training material and will have the Instructional design and development methodology as a guiding point.

Regarding Institutional commitment, it will be guaranteed at various stages: adoption of ALIGNING – Innovative clusters strategies in M8 – WP2, ALIGNING Innovation and transferability plan in M18 (first version) and M36 (final) – WP6.
